How can I help?

In the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, Berber women have few financial opportunities.

That's why I am working with my dear Moroccan friend Saida Houssine to raise money for her business. She empowers women in her village in the Atlas Mountains by giving them economic opportunities through rug weaving and pottery. Saida is expanding her business into another village and aims to employ 20 more women and provide housing for widows and single women.

Please consider donating. 100% of proceeds go to Saida's business, which helps women in the Laoubar Village in the Atlas Mountains. Please contact Jodi Bean jodi@learningtobe.com for information on tax-deductible donations.

Meet my friend, Saida

Saida is an incredible woman I met while traveling in Morocco. Despite traditions that told her she should stay in the home, she created her own business employing women across her community to create custom rugs for tourists. She is my dear friend to this day and recently reached out to me with a request:

She is raising money so that she can help even more women—widows and unmarried women who otherwise don’t have the means to support themselves.

Economic hardship is a real challenge in this region, but it can be exponentially harder for Berber women who are allowed very few opportunities for employment.
