A transformational adventure for women and daughters
Spend 9 days and 8 nights in Morocco where you will create lasting bonds through
adventure, self-discovery, and service in an unforgettable journey.
Designed for women 15+ (with a guardian for those under 19), this retreat is perfect for a senior trip, humanitarian experience, or girls' getaway.
Price: $3140 each for shared room, $3525 for single traveler
More than just seeing the sights
Experience the vibrant city of Marrakech as you stay in a traditional riad in the heart of the city. Together, you’ll explore bustling markets, ancient cities, and tranquil oases. Morocco’s vivid colors, lively energy, and warm hospitality will awaken your senses as you and your daughter discover new perspectives side by side.
Each day offers a new adventure: hiking the stunning Atlas Mountains, wandering colorful souks, and uncovering treasures as you immerse yourselves in Moroccan culture. This isn’t just about seeing the sights—it’s about creating lasting memories with your daughter in an exciting and meaningful way.
Self-discovery and growth
Every experience in this trip is carefully curated to reinforce the principles of
mindfulness and self-compassion. With daily adventures exploring Moroccan culture along with morning meditation and guided self-compassion workshops, you’ll find tools to grow emotionally and spiritually.
We will workshop different topics every day together. This workshop time may be the part of the trip that you end up loving the most—learning and sharing with each other will be an absolute highlight.
Workshop topics:
- Mindfulness: What is it, and why should I care to have more of it
- Self-compassion: Learn that you are the curator of your thoughts and how you speak to yourself matters. Discover new ways to communicate with yourself!
- Meditation: “Why can’t I meditate? My mind is too busy!” We'll discuss common misconceptions about meditation and try it out for ourselves.
- Somatic yoga: We will learn to work through emotions through movement and sound.
Humanitarian work
One of the most meaningful parts of your Moroccan journey will be your chance to give back. In the Atlas Mountains, you’ll meet Saida, a trailblazing woman who is working to uplift the women in her community by providing much-needed economic opportunities. You and your daughter will have the opportunity to support Saida's efforts to expand her rug weaving business and help build spaces for local women and children.
This hands-on service will offer both of you a chance to connect with remarkable women making a difference and provide a lasting lesson in empathy and empowerment.
Change the lives of Berber women
Not only will we be having incredible experiences, but we also have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the Women in the Laoubar Villlage in the Atlas Mountains. Economic hardship is a real challenge in this region, but it can be exponentially harder for Berber women who are allowed very few opportunities for employment. As mentioned above, we are partnering with a pioneer of her region, Saida Houssine.
Saida has a mission to help create economic stability and education in her village for the most vulnerable. She employs women, specifically widowed and single women, in rug weaving and pottery. We will be visiting her village and have the opportunity to help her expand her business.
Learning To Be is currently raising funds to help support her expansion through donations and through rug purchases. Email saidaberberhouse@gmail.com for more information on rug purchases. You can order a
custom rug woven to your specifications! Contact Jodi Bean for more information on tax
deductible donations.
